Description
Here in our area crepe myrtles are everywhere. There’s a good reason - they grow well in the heat and are pretty hardy in all types of soils. And of course their showy flowers brighten the summer landscape. But like anything of true beauty, when you get closer and look beyond the flashy first impression, there’s a deep, rich quality to its bark. This photo is of one of the many crepe myrtles I have in our yard. It’s the oldest one and definitely a star in the garden.
