This Eastern Bluebird was protecting its young family as they fluttered into and out of the holes in this rotted-out pine tree. He allowed me to take his picture, but not without a clear warning to keep my distance. Taken with a Sigma 150-600 lens in Big Bear Lake, California.

I was born and raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California, but I'm a country girl at heart. I am happiest when hiking in the mountains or wandering through green open fields.
